"How May I Help You?"

Owlluver101 captured this hilarious pose of one of Sydney's owlets with her curious expression and oh, so fuzzy chest. The face is really showing the feather patterns now. So cute!

Phoebe's Nest at Twilight

I thought that the colors at Phoebe's courtyard were beautiful this evening. A cloud came over and turned the background blue. She has 2 new eggs, the second one being laid just this morning, and is dutifully sitting on them and chasing off any intruders (including the 2 kids from her prior clutch!). Such a beautiful hummingbird.

FamOwly Theater at Sydney & Mel's Place

"We are famowly, I got all my brothers with me" Dinky swallowing a gopher while one Owlet watches and the other Owlet could care less.
Matilda hamming it up in front of the camera with her Top mOWLdeling pose.
What a great group of photos for the FamOwly Album, and we have Yvonne Nieves to thank for these!! I never really believed there were 6 owlets, but now I am convinced!!! Fantastic shots, Yvonne.

Decorah Eagles

"Can I help you??"
Baby has a secret!! Lori G captured these adorable screen shots to share with all the MODs. These eagle parents look formidable, but are so gentle in caring for their young ones.

Gizmomma's Wren Update: One week old

Mama's ready to launch One hungry baby Waking up hungry
Happy Sunday Everyone, Just a quick update on the baby wrens. As you can see, they have grown quite a bit since they hatched a week ago. No more naked pink butts! Both Mama and Papa have been feeding them non-stop all weekend. On Saturday, Papa was pretty funny as he tried to divert my attention while Mama snuck into the nest to feed the babies. By Sunday, they both gave up on me and just freely flew/jumped in and out of the nest. Each time they arrived with a juicy tidbit, the babies would chirp away in their sweet, teeny voices. And the news for which you have all been waiting.

Here are the babies names: Wrocky, Wrowdy, Wroxie, & Wrocket

Thanks to everyone for their name suggestions. I hope you had as much fun as I did with their names!

Have a great week everyone!

Linda (Gizmomma)

Yum Yum's Latest Photo Shoot

Matilda was all dressed up for an evening out, wearing her white feather boas.

"Oh, Dahlink, you look mahvelous, simply mahvelous, in your feather boas."

"Boy, that Mattie thinks she's hot stuff just cause she's fuzzier than us today. She is such a show off."

"Now I lay me down to sleep, visions of mousies at my feet. My siblings are not behaving tonite. I am an innocent!! Truly I am!!"

An Owlbox First--All 6 Heads

Finally we get to see all 6 owlets at one time. Something must have enticed the shy ones out from hiding. Thanks to owlluver101 for this great screen shot.

Six hours after birth and more swollen.

Thirty two hours later, bruising and swelling were finally going away. Eyes are still wandering a bit, as you can see. He'll get the hang of it.

Hummingbird at Giz Momma's

From Giz Momma:

"I thought you might enjoy a photo of one of my resident hummingbirds. His name is Dandy, and he is quite handsome. His girlfriend's name is Dinger (because she is a humdinger). She hasn't been around too much lately - perhaps she is off scouting for a good nest location. But, Dandy is zipping around the yard having a good ole time."

Thanks to Linda for sharing her beautiful photos.

Pre-Flight Training at Sydney's

"OK everyone stand back, I'm going for it!"

Oh, how fast these owlets mature. Thanks to CD3 for this amazing capture of pre-flight practice in action!!

Which Way Did You Say is Up?

This owlet is going to need some "Deep Heet" rubbed on his neck after this twisting trick. Ouch!!

The Editorial Staff of the blog thank Secret Agent for contributing this great shot of Syd's owlets.

Oh, such pretty feathers we have now

Where did all the fuzzies go, long time passing . . .

If this is Matilda in front, she sure shed her fuzzy feathers all of a sudden and is now looking very much like Sydney. Bet she will be venturing outside soon.

The Enfowlcer is Watching You

oooooh, I'm shaking in my boots.

Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow

Funniest sound I ever heard (A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow) But I can't understand a single word (A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow) Someone tossed a hork, the hork that ate New York. So, bring on my dinner—I’m ready with my fork

The Famous Singing Owlceanside Owlets, Live

Mom & Daddy, bring me a mouse

(Hork, hork, hork, hork)

Make it the fattest one that fits in this house

(Hork, hork, hork, hork)

Make sure it's dead, we aren't up to killing

A rat for dinner sure would also be thrilling!

Some serious fluffiness happening here

Wow, we is fuzzy widdle owlets!!!
Dueling one-legged stances
Alright, now what is that crawling around in my clean and tidy home? A buggie? I won't stand for it (oops, I am standing, so guess I mean I won't put up with it)

Richard is Upset--He is Being Neglected!!

Richard wants to know why he is being ignored on the famous blog. He says "I even fixed my hair all pretty to impress my friend 1SkatrPie, and do I get acknowledged? Nothing!! Well, I am insulted." So, 1SkatrPie, please remember that he is your special innamorato (is that accurate??) and wants to remind you that now and then, everyone needs attention!!! So get on the stick!!

Eaglet #2 has hatched at Decorah, Iowa

While eaglet #1 was being fed, the newcomer did a face plant.

And last but not least, we have mama and papa eagles, having a quiet moment on the nest. Papa is in the back and flew off shortly after this shot was taken. Incredibly beautiful birds.

Sunday Snack at Owlceanside

The owlet towards the front, second from left, had just snorfed down a good sized left over rodent. Now he/she is looking quite pleased about it. Note the coloration in the wing feathers; a sign of maturity for sure.

Orphan hummingbird being raised by surrogate

Here is little Hope, who was rescued after her nest was destroyed and her mother abandoned her. She has been taken in by Emma, who has 2 chicks of her own. This is groundbreaking; hummingbirds never have 3 young. But Emma is feeding her along with her own two, and she seems to be thriving. It is only a few days since she was rescued and has already grown a lot (as you can see in the first photograph, in the hand of her rescuer). The hosts of Emma's nest are working with a rehabber, who is keeping an eye on Hope. They also installed a tarp over the nest to keep everyone dry, and a blanket is ready underneath in case Hope should fall out. They deserve a huge vote of thanks for all their efforts.

It's a bird; it's a plane; or is it Cousin It?

Will the real owlet please stand up?

"Oh, Sole Mio"

Syd's owlets might be practicing for the big owl concert to be held in Owlceanside.

The Decorah Eaglet Makes its Debut!

Baby has a mohawk already!!! And little shiny eyes! Parent was tearing up bunny and then fed it, after which nap time ensued. I think I am love with this little guy!!! He's very active and loud; seems very healthy. More to come.

Fuzzy little eaglet comes into the world April 2, 2011

Thank you to Lori G for sending me the link to the video on Youtube, which enabled me to get these screen shots.
